We celebrated our 80th Anniversary with special tea for our members on Oct 2, 2016 at the Lions’ Hall. The table settings and decorations were beautiful.  Many thanks to our 80th Anniversary Committee.

Two executive members of our auxiliary attended the annual BCAHA Conference in Penticton April 15 – 17, 2016.  It was a special leadership conference.

“Listen, Learn, Lead”

The Lady Minto Hospital Auxiliary Society held their Annual General Meeting on March 21, 2016.  It was another good year for our auxiliary.  Our volunteers continue special programs at our local hospital, Greenwoods Complex and Braehaven Assisted Living facilities to support the comfort and care of the patients and residents at these healthcare facilities.   We were pleased to have our Vancouver Island Area Representative, Anne Marie Smith install a full executive with 2 new vice-presidents.  The audited financial report was presented.  In 2015 we were pleased to donate $152,258 to Lady Minto Hospital and to Greenwoods/Braehaven Elder Care Society for equipment and therapy programs.  This money was raised primarily through operation of the Lady Minto Hospital Thrift Shop.

Early in 2016, the Lady Minto Hospital Auxiliary Society donated a mural to improve the appearance of a new Extended Care Unit interior doorway.

This year the Lady Minto Hospital Auxiliary Society is celebrating it’s 80 th Anniversary!

Each year, our auxiliary honours the first New Year’s baby born at Lady Minto Hospital.  A special bag of baby items is prepared from Thrift Shop donations and presented to the baby’s family.  This year, we were very happy to honour a baby girl. born early in January, 2016.

Throughout the Christmas Holidays, Thrift Shop volunteers led by the Thrift Shop Committee worked to improve the layout of the Thrift Shop.  We now have more space for household items and a special section devoted to children’s wear.

We enjoyed our annual Christmas lunch this year at Meaden Hall on Dec. 2.  It was a festive occasion with a Christmas dress-up fashion show and awards for our long time members. Penny’s Pantry caterers provided a delicious meal.  Over 90 of our members attended.  We were very fortunate to have Valdy as a special guest.

Start your Christmas shopping at our fabulous Christmas Sale to be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and the following  day Sunday, Nov. 22, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Volunteers who work in the Thrift Shop are holding a planning meeting today, Monday October 26 at 10:30 at the Lions Hall. This will be followed by lunch and then the General Meeting of all volunteers (including Hospital ECU, Greenwoods, Braehaven, and our knitters) at 1:30 pm.

Volunteers can avoid the lineup at the Christmas Lunch, by paying membership dues at the General Meeting.
